STH wins Best U.K. / Japan Partnership award at the 2017 British Business Awards

STH Group (STH) and Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) were recognised as “Best UK / Japan Partnership” at the British Business Awards (BBA) hosted in Tokyo at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo on November 2, 2017. The awards recognise British innovation, entrepreneurship, business success and social contributions in Japan and are organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ).

STH was selected as the winner in their category by a panel of five independent judges from backgrounds spanning trade, sport, law, government and architecture, at a gala event attended by over 350 guests.

The BBA has become one of the largest annual events enjoyed by the foreign business community in Japan. Established in 2008 to mark the 60th anniversary of the BCCJ, the event is now considered a unique showcase for British creativity, culture and commerce.

The STH and JTB joint venture agreement was signed in 2016 and is a pioneering partnership dedicated to promoting and operating top-class sports hospitality experiences for international and domestic sports events in Japan, with a particular focus on Rugby World Cup 2019™.

Simon Jefford, STH CEO, said: “Rugby World Cup 2019 will present a significant opportunity to redefine the sports hospitality industry in Japan. Working in partnership with JTB to launch our innovative hospitality venture in Asia has been seamless, we could not have asked for a more capable and supportive partner. Winning an award that is selected by industry peers based on our collaboration with JTB is special, and we are proud to have been recognized for this.”

The Rugby World Cup 2019 is set to be the largest sporting event in the world in 2019 and the first time a Rugby World Cup has been hosted in Asia. The travel and hospitality programmes for Rugby World Cup 2019 are set to drive ticket sales of over 150,000 tickets for the event.
